Biography Review

Update!
I spent a LONG time looking up books and their authors and my result is a complete list of wizard books! You can find them on the new page Wizard Reading List. The map and information should be up within a day or two! January 22, 2002

Today I'll try to add some new sections! One will be a list of books used in the wizard world. Another will be a map of Hogwarts and information on the places marked on the map. I can't guarntee these will be up, but I'm going to try!

Improved Content
I realize that alot of my content pertains to this site, is pointless, and is out of date, but I can GUARNTEE it's getting better! I added the rules of Quidditch to the Quidditch page (team names coming soon!), I added all the information I could research on Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley and I'm turning the Ministry of Magic page into a complete list of departmetns, employees, etc. and the Daily Prophet News Team will be changed to The Daily Prophet and, if copyrights will allow it (I have to read up on that), I'm going to put a collection of Daily Prophet articles from the pictures of Daily Prophets on harrypotter.com and from the articles in the books! The only problem with all this is, The Owlery fell to 92 in the FF top 100! Please vote for this site by clicking the link above or the button on the intro page (the-owlery.cjb.net). Thanks!!
UPDATED!
I woke up early today to really update my sites! Yesterday I added lots of pictures to EWW and today I'm going to try and add some new pages there. But right now, I'm going to ddo some basic HP content like information on Diagon Alley, Privet Drive, Hogwarts, and that kind of stuff! I don't know how much will get up today, but you can at least expect the rules of Quidditch on the Quidditch page!

Biography
J.K. Rowling will be featured on the show 'Biography' this Sunday on A&E!!! Hopefully the Americans will get to see what she showed the British in Harry Potter and Me! The show will air at 8:00pm Eastern Standard Time January 16, 2001

Jason Isaacs will be playing Lucius Malfoy in the Chamer of Secrets which will probably meen he will also be in the Goblet of Fire.

I've been nominated for the second round of the Golden Snitch Awards. I'm going to HOPEFULLY update EWW today, because it needs it desperately! Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone has been announced as the second highest performer in the 2001 box office!! The Fast and the Furious was first, Legally Blonde was third and The Lord of the Rings was fourth.
News Pages, etc.!
I updated the shopping page to a point where half of the Amazon.com merchandise list is complete! An exclusively complete 'Potter in the Classroom' page will be up throughout the school week! I've got worksheets, projects, planners, quizzes, and writing assignments for teachers who just don't know how to enjoy Harry Potter! The HP Web Slide Show will probably be longer than I thought, because it has to be saved as a file and it just looks like a bunch of Publisher documents unless you email someone the HTML code, so it's going to take a while and I don't know if it will work, but I will definately let you know by tomorrow! Potter does well at Ottakar's!
Ananova.com reports:
Ottakar's is reporting an increase in sales as Harry Potter books and merchandise continue to fly off the shelves.
It says JK Rowling's boy wizard accounted for 3% of all business, while JRR Tolkein's books have been in demand because of the Lord of the Rings film.
Like-for-like sales gained 7.5% in the six weeks to December 29 as Ottakar's built on a strong performance last Christmas.
Finance director Edward Knighton believes the company's figures, which include a 12.7% increase in all sales, are among the strongest in the sector.
He says: "Harry Potter and Tolkein have come through strongly. Children are also coming back looking for things to read before the next Harry Potter book."
Total sales for the 48 weeks to the end of December were up 13.6% on the previous year, with like-for-like business - excluding new store openings - up 6.1%.
Ottakar's says new bookshops which opened last year at Lymington, St Helier, Wilmslow and at Northallerton in North Yorkshire had performed ahead of expectations.
The group, which intends to open between six and eight stores this year, states: "We have now demonstrated that the Ottakar's retail format can perform successfully across a broad range of store sizes."
The company, which has a portfolio of 78 stores, also intends to refurbish four outlets this year.
Chairman Philip Dunne says profits for the year to January 26 will meet market expectations, adding: "We are encouraged by the trading performance over the Christmas period, with both like-for-like stores and those stores opened in 2000 and 2001 performing well."
Harry Potter WebSlideShow
The (what I believe to be)first Harry Potter slideshow is coming *exclusively* to The Owlery this weekend. An Emma slideshow may appear on EWW as well. The slideshow looks fantastic so far, a big thanks to Microsoft Publishing for the design/text/software! The slideshow will, of course, be copyright of The Owlery! Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone DVD?

It is confirmed that the only amount of extra time on the DVD is 10 minutes! Director Chris Columbus himself has said that we will be able to get the slightly extended version on DVD. He said that in the latest issue of Galaxie Magazine. Anyway...he also said that surprises will be in store for fans especially in the field of games and DVD-ROM features.
The Chamber of Secrets is already well into filming and the layout of Dobby the house-elf is complete. Chris has promised that stills of Dobby will be released around early February/late March. He said the
layout for the elf is very similar to that of what he had imagined and is very true to fans. He has also added that they plan to finish shooting by May and insert the visual effects in June/July.

Updates Galore!
I think the hate mail problem has stopped! *yay* So I've added a LOAD of items to the shopping guide! I still have like 100 books/calendars/etc. to add and I have to do the British list, the software, window shopping, and all the stuff from WBStore.com! My fanfic is coming along slowly but surely, and I'm proud of the plot because I think it's a real gripping one!
Hate Mail Needs To Stop!
Okay I HATE talking about negative things on my site unless it pertains to something in HP books or the lives of HP actors, etc. but I've been getting loads of hate mail for writing that new review. Malcolm King (who signed his email Calcom King) spazzed out on me, telling me J.K. Rowling thought the film was perfect. He also told me I could not make a movie half as good as WB. This may be true on the facts that I have no close connections to anyone who is British and I don't have the proper sets, digital effects, etc. but I CAN make something ENTIRELY faithful to the books. Malcolm, I ask you that if it was "EXACLY as J.K. Rowling imagined" then why was Peeves left out? Or was he just magically in the books and J.K. Rowling never put him there or, in your words, "imaged him"? Why did the wrong students get detention in the forest? Huh? Huh? Sorry for burdening the rest of you with such an angry news post on my part, but I just want you to see what people are sending me, and maybe you'll get knowledge from replies, who knows! Hehe! Harry Potter Shopping Center
I've opened a Shopping page in which you can purchase items from amazon.com and profits do not in any way go to The Owlery. I'm not done though! I only have part of the Ultimate Shopping List done and I haven't even STARTED on window shopping, but that'll be up sometime this school week! Please go check the HP items out!
Potter Walks Home Empty!
The first American Film Awards aired on CBS last night. The only award Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was nominated for was Best Digital Effects. Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring took home that award along with Best Film. Personally, I have to say Harry Potter had these three things over Lord of the Rings:
Better Supporting Actors
Better Storylines
Better Ending!
I know that there will be two more LOTR movies, but there will be SIX more HP movies, and that didn't give Steve Kloves a right to make the script end poorly. And if the movies were both faithful to the books, then J.K. Rowling is obviously a better writer! Other nominations for Best Film included A Beautiful Mind and Moulin Rouge, according to TV Guide Channel. Harry Potter was not nominated for that award.

Some Updates Today
A very detailed movie review has been posted. A matching banner and button have been uploaded and more quizzes were added! I also created a 'Harry Potter And Me' page using the text MuggleNet.com had on the special. Think I don't update? THINK AGAIN!!! hehe! The news layout should be up next week. HP Character list may not open due the fact that TheWizardWorld.com has already posted a near complte list. That brings me to another point. I have REQUESTED that http://www.geocities.com/PottersOwl (also known as the-owlery.cjb.net) will be re-directed to http://owlery.thewizardworld.com! This is great news because with the deal I've requested, I get a flash button/banner, URL re-direction, free email re-direction, and possible website help! Secrets Revealed/Movie Review
DProphet.com had an interesting review in which Meg McGonagall revealed some appauling information about how Daniel got the part and of how Susie Figgis quit. I however, disagree and think that Daniel did a fair job at acting, though not as good as Emma or Rupert! Also, I saw the movie again today so I'll be adding a MUCH more detailed review tomorrow and if I can get some more information from DProphet.com, then I'm going to make a 'Secrets Revealed' page!

So you know, that will be the name of our new and improved site. It may not be as good as The Owlery... but I hope you enjoy it! It's hard enough runnning 1 site, but opening this would give me 3!!
